The 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape from Vieux Lazaret is a well-above-average, attractive wine with loads of berry fruit, herbs, licorice, and earthy undertones. The wine has good flavor, definition, texture, and balance. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.  .......These wines are made in a quasi-modern style with gorgeous levels of fruit as well as superb purity, but the taster never doubts this is a Chateauneuf du Pape, not Burgundy or Bordeaux.
