Marco de Jerez is a gorgeous region of rolling hills inland from the atlantic coast and north from the bay of Cádiz. Of the nine wine-making villages of the region, it’s centered on, and is named for the main town, Jerez de la Frontera. The most famous local wine, ‘sherry’ also takes its name from Jerez. In most places you can see the Atlantic; you can feel it everywhere. Cool, moist, mythical. The lands glisten and twinkle when the sun catches the dazzling chalky soil.

Recently though. Jerez has taken on an incredible new direction and one, Scott Wasley of The Spanish Acquisition has been studying intensely for several years now – the Palominos – Finos continuum. No longer just fortifide sherry styles, there is an emphasis by cutting edge growers and winemakers who see the real potential of the region, the palominio grape and the incredible diversity of styles possible.

We have heard the breakdown of this fascinating, paradigm shift in thinking in this region and will have Scott in to take us through the finer points in a 1 hours masterclass. This will be a fascinating exploration of the new direction that not just Sherry but Spain itself.
