Henri Boillot's ambitious and burgeoning négociant arm is made up in large part of many small bottling lots, representing remarkably many of the Cote d-Or's most prestigious crus. Precision and minerality- are words he offers to explain his intentions even in a vintage as ripe as 2006, and for the most part he walks the accompanying walk.

A preference for volume of healthy lees rather than their stirring and the utilization of 350-liter barrels rather than barriques are surely among the factors that permit these wines to marry richness with refreshment and clarity. On the other hand, even the wines of lesser appellation that receive less barrel exposure are still given extended time on their fine lees in tank before bottling.

Henri Boillot continues to make stunning wines from his négociant operations and he has become, in my view the best small négociant in Burgundy for white wines.   ......yes there are other very fine négociants but the huge majority of them are really domaines hidden inside a “maison” facade that buy in fruit or must to supplement their proprietary wines. Boillot notes that he treats the Maison wines exactly the same as those of the Domaine.  BURGHOUND

We began importing Henri Boillot’s wines directly last year with what was a superb set of 2007 whites and we are delighted to report that the 2008s, which have just landed, are the equal of Henri’s superb 2007s albeit they are a little richer yet with the same sense of balance and structure that permeates through all of Boillot’s white wines.  The 2008s are also 20-25% less expensive due to the strong Australian dollar (although how long this will last is uncertain).  

For orders placed this week only we are offering a 15% discount irrespective of quantities purchased and a 20% discount for any mixed dozen purchases. Some of these wines will be on tasting this Saturday.
