2012 Le Macchiole Offer with Museum Releases

Everybody remembers their first time with Le Macchiole

‘I don’t know too many producers who are more self-critical than Cinzia Merli…….Despite all of her successes, Merli remains incredibly driven and passionate to the point that it is quite clear that the best is yet to come. In a region that is increasingly dominated by deep-pocketed owners and glamorous wineries, Le Macchiole stands out for decidedly artisan wines that reflect more human values than is often commonly found in this part of Tuscany.’ Antonio Galloni, vinousmedia.com
The first time I tasted Le Macchiole was on the Etruscan Coast on my honeymoon a few years ago and it was the 2007 Paleo Rosso. Of Le Macchiole I knew only that it carried a formidable reputation as a Super Tuscan producer of Bordeaux and International varieties. I have never looked at Cabernet Franc the same way again and I remember the wine right to its last drop.

Organically farmed since 2002 and in the process of convert to being fully biodynamic, Le Macchiole beautifully expresses Bolgheri terroir and is the absolute antithesis of some of the soupy and characterless wines that accompanied the Super Tuscan goldrush. We have never hidden our admiration for consultant Oenologist Luca D’Attoma and we import his own highly sought after Duemani wines. This winemaking dream team of Merli and D’Attoma are constantly striving for perfection and have been remarkably close a number of times. The 2012 releases are absolutely stunning and Le Macchiole, a slightly less conspicuous name than Sassicaia and Ornellaia (although increasingly less so) is making its case to be considered Bolgheri’s best.

Along with these new releases, we have been offered the rare opportunity to offer some back vintages straight from the cellar. We are offering 15% off across the range, but quantities are scarce. You can order by replying to this email as always I would welcome the opportunity to discuss them further and can be reached at 0415 797 049.
