August Mixed Dozen 2019 - Small But Mighty Half Bottle Dozen
Selected by Myles Thomson

History is littered with the small and mighty. Those that their physical stature did nothing to stop them putting their mark on the world. Joan of Arc was 19 when she died but had led France to victory and was later canonised as a Saint. Winston Churchill (besides being a massive Champagne nut) is widely regarded as one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century. He was also an officer in the British Army, a historian, a writer, and an artist and won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Mickey Rooney was a superstar by the age of 25, a triple threat and a box office hit starring in over 300 movies that left a film legacy few can match.

But I digress. What we are here to talk about is wine! We have always been very proud of our half bottle collection and are always on the lookout for great wines in small formats. In fact, we could have done this dozen twice over with the selection of great wine we have in-store. This assortment is perfect if you want to try something new or just need a little something extra to get through you a cold winter night when you pull the cork on your last bottle at dinner. Use them as stocking stuffers or hide them around the house for the best game hide-and- seek you will ever play. Get on the mini-bottle bandwagon, you won't regret it!

We have a selection of wines from around the globe and from some of our favourite producers and winemakers. There is classic and crispy Frenchies with William Fevre Chablis and Trimbach Reserve Riesling along side Bordeaux from Chateau Belgrave. Closer to home Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay and Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir represents our brothers and sisters across the pond while closer to home Moss Wood, Kooyong, Torbreck and Yabby Lake are putting up the front line to this incredible pack.
