Blind Corner’s (ludicrous value) Rouge is a blend of Quindalup Cabernet and Shiraz ferments, with 5% Merlot from the estate’s young ‘Petrus’ clone grafts at Wilyabrup. The Cabernet component includes a percentage of barrels declassified from the Cabernet bottling below. In the main, the wine is drawn from 20+ year-old vines, handpicked, foot-crushed and wild fermented and basket pressed to old oak for a few months before bottling. It’s a juicy, jubey, medium-bodied wine that delivers plenty of blackcurrant and graphite-scented fruit and value that’s hard to believe. PWS
