This is the big gun Barbera for these guys. Last time we visited they opened a late 90s bottle for us that was humming, a 96 from memory. It sees a little more wood which works well with the variety as it is naturally low in tannins so it provides a little more stuffing and support. Seriously ripe, deeply concentrated and broadly fruited with an almost menthol like lick to the palate. The acidity is fresher than you would think with the big dark fruit and it helps to keep things lively. This is a more serious interpretation and one that would benefit from a little time or something hearty to eat. ROSCOE
