Winter is coming! But still plenty of beautiful Autumn days in between, and what better way to celebrate then a selection of Rhone inspired wines. Encompassing both the cool north, warm south, white, red and rose - I can't think of a better way to welcome in end of summer. The north and south are unique, each with vastly different geography, climate, soils and grape varieties, but share one thing in common - the Rhône River. One of the first regions to adopt and develop the French AOC laws the Rhone is the spiritual home of Grenache and Syrah for reds with Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne the major players of the whites.

Representing France in the Northern Rhone Style, we have the great value Caves de Tane Syrah 2016. And the crème de la crème of the Yann Chave Crozes Hermitage 2016 – this is made from the best parcels of the fruit from the vineyards and always represents the most serious and long-lived expression of the Chave holdings. From the south we have Font de Courtedune Cotes du Rhone Village 2016 and Delas Cotes du Rhone Ventoux 2017 and the delicious Rive Droit Cotes du Rhone 2017.

In the Aussie corner we have the always delicious and deftly made Inkwell Viognier 2016. For a little fun next is the De Bortoli Grenache Rose 2017, a savoury and spicy drop and a perfect paring the last few glimpses of summer sun. Representing the Cotes du Rhone styles is Jericho McLaren Vale GSM 2017 and in the northern style is the Head Cellar Reserve Shiraz 2017 and Syrahmi Demi Shiraz 2017. Two different expressions of what Aussie Shiraz does best.
