Fifth-generation wine woman Alessandra Felluga worked with her father Marco from the start when he acquired the Buttrio estate in 1994. Making premium reds in white-wine Friuli could have been a gamble but Alessandra shared her father’s vision. Appreciating the potential of Buttrio terroir, she took over in 2007. Today, her far-sightedness has been rewarded by the results obtained from the 26 hectares under vine. CASTELLO DI BUTTRIO

The vineyard in the hills at Castello di Buttrio is 142 metres above sea level, ensures perfect air circulation and the ideal range of day-night temperatures at harvest time brings the grapes to optimal ripeness. Gialla means 'yellow' and is an apt description of the wine with all its lovely citrus and peach, a[apricot flavours that present on the nose. There is a nice drive of fresh acidity that pulls the peachy fruit through the plump mid-palate. Mid-weight in style with a lovely clean and aromatic fruit profile. PWS
