While 'Masso' in local Sicilian dialect speaks of soil structure, 'Timpa', meaning 'strong slope', gives more clues on topography than geology. In this case, a vineyard which is seriously steep, with some parts of the vineyard climbing with a gradient that exceeds 70%! 'Timpa' is essentially made the same way as the 'Masso', and although the vineyards are close, this site is much higher in sand, with less rock and iron. The colour is less deep, with distinct stone fruits, almonds and floral notes, supported by invigorating acidity.
