Like the Côte de Nuits-Villages, this was racked to tank after harvest. Four barrels. No new oak. Eyre buys the same fruit every year from two parcels. One is just across the road from the old château and the other parcel just below and to the south of Evocelles. 35- to 55-year-old vines. 100% destemmed. ‘Very little interference during fermentation.’ Tank sample.
Pure, dark fruit with a hint of graphite adding a mineral character on the nose. Very bright and lively, then surprisingly juicy and almost red-fruited on the palate. Slight prickle on the palate (CO2) making it fresher still. Light, dry texture. Very well balanced.  (17) JANCIS ROBINSON
