Bright and fluid on the eye this champagne boasts a pale straw-yellow colour with flecks of brilliant, intense lemon. Tiny bubbles rise in a lively stream to form a delicate ring of mousse at the top of the glass. The overall impression is of a fresh and multi-faceted wine.

On the nose the first sensation is of fresh lemon, of verbena and grapefruit with notes of honeysuckle and lime. As the wine opens the aromas tend towards blackcurrant, warm apples, pears, quince and peach with hints of pepper, honey and sweet almond.

The attack on the palate is soft and lively with a creamy, melting effervescence. The champagne soon develops a pulpy fruitiness underpinned by a nicely integrated lemony acidity that gives an impression of lightness and freshness reminiscent of chlorophyll and coriander. The mid-palate is orchestrated by a chalky-clayey mineral character which lends polish, enhances the fruity character and leaves a very elegant, delicate and creamy mineral note.

The finish is full of flavour with a lightly saline touch and a hint of umami that brings a soft fruity sensation with a touch of powdered almond. The whole is delicately highlighted by lingering notes of chalk, iodine, coriander and even a hint of aniseed.

Brut Réserve is easy to like; a champagne for many occasions. It’s delightfully tempting and offers rich fruitiness beautifully married with a delicate mineral character.
