Quinta Milú is the small family winery of winemaker Germán Blanco in the village of La Aguilera, Ribera del Duero DO. Germán calls his estate a “micro-winery” and his intention is to produce wines that convey the place they are from with minimal intervention.

During his years in Ribera as an apprentice winemaker, buying grapes for the likes of Felix Callejo, Germán noted that vintage after vintage his favourite parcels came from old plots in the town of La Aguilera. Through the Quinta Milú project Germán is able to produce and bottle wine from these plots individually, mapping out the soil changes and orientation shifts along the valley that makes up the La Aguilera township.

He only uses Tinta del Pais, the local variety of Tempranillo and farms all of the parcels organically. Ribera del Duero is generally an area of big reputations, big wines and big oak influence, but not the wines from Quinta Milú, where freshness, drinkability and transparency to the soil trump the pursuit of big point

Quinta Milú ‘Milú’ is Tempranillo from a blend of differentplots around the village of La Aguilera. The vines are between 25-50 years of age. Fermented in Stainless and then aged for six months in older barrels.
