Hiedler's 2016 Zöbing Ried Heiligenstein 1ÖTW Riesling opens with a clear, intense yet pure and piquant bouquet of crushed stones and white peaches. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, piquant, intense, lingering, salty and tensioned Heiligenstein with great mineral grip, expression and finesse. This Heilgenstein seems weightless, but at the same time, it is highly intense and structured by its mineral tension and fine tannins. Tasted as a sample at Schloss Gobelsburg in July 2017. STEPHAN REINHARDT

On the nose, buddleia and bittersweet gentian garland ripe, pit-tinged white peach, while hints of black tea and struck flint anticipate the smoky, alkaline cast to a silken-textured, lusciously fruited palate. An infusion of fresh lime lends bright animation, while liquid floral perfume, glowing pit piquancy and crystalline stony impingements add to the appeal of a vibrantly sustained finish.
