The Christmas Mixed Dozen always steps it up a gear. It's difficult to hit that sweet spot between decadence and practicality as the season gives you license to splash out, but the weather calls for frivolous whites and cleansing ales! Of course, we are up to the challenge and this year's Christmas Mixed Dozen is nothing short of EPIC!
Let's get started. We would sooner see Christmas cancelled than see a Mixed Dozen without a magnum so due to overwhelming customer demand we have convinced winemaker Adam Foster to provide us with a special bottling of his Foster e Rocco Sangiovese Rose MAGNUM 2017. Exclusive to the Prince, this is the perfect long lunch accompaniment. Similarly, there's no Christmas without a little fizz and this year we've pulled out all the stops with Andre Clouet Dreams Vintage 2006 Blanc de Blanc (100% Chardonnay) Champagne! The only wine Andre Clouet makes with Chardonnay this is a delicious and rare release produced from 100% Grand Cru fruit he swaps with another grower who needs Pinot Noir to make it Rose!
Moving on to whites we've put together a versatile little group of whites to satisfy any mood. Firstly, the award winning and delicious O'Leary Walker Watervale Riesling 2017. 2017 was a great vintage in the Clare and this was one of our favourites from the Annual Clare Valley Riesling tasting. Another staff favourite from Portugal's Pe Branco 2015. An indigenous blend from the award winning Esporao crew, this is utterly compelling and throatable stuff. We've also got the unbelievably delicious Amen Break Chardonnay 2015 - trophy winner at the Sydney wine show! Incredible for such a tiny producer. Finally the whites are rounded out by a cheeky little Les Vingerons Vermentino / Colombard blend perfect for the hot BBQ weather.
For the reds, we have a nice mix of cheerful quaffers and serious heavy hitters. What would Christmas be without Burgundy? We've got the Jean-Luc & Weic Burguet Bourgogne Rouge Les Prince Vin 2015 - outstanding wine perfect for any Christmas table. This is followed up with the brilliant Stephane Aviron Beaujolais 2015 and the Rive Droit Cotes du Rhone 2015.
We couldn't resist including a Spaniard in the dozen - a delicious little unwooded tempranillo to rip the top off during BBQ season. Finally, we round out the dozen with a couple of Italians: we've included two favourites of the staff: Querciabella Mongrana 2013 - one the best value Tuscan's on the market and Forteto della Luja Brachetto 2012, and brilliant sweet wine perfect for Christmas pudding or a slice of pie!
This is the ultimate Christmas drinking pack with a whopping 40% discount as our Christmas gift to you!
