There is a softly earthy and ever-so-mildly sauvage character to the otherwise very fresh and cool white fleshed fruit aromas. I like the sense of energy and detail to the medium weight flavours that possess good focus on the attractively clean and dry finish. This isn't especially complex but there is none of the softness or lack of vibrancy that too many Savigny whites display. This would make a great upper level house white as it could be enjoyed now but should also reward 2 to 4 years of cellar time too. BURGHOUND

For some months I've been caught in the middle of a Chardonnay phase that shows no sign of easing.  Savigny Les Beaune produces mostly reds so this wine is a rare gem and a good alternative to the heavy-hitters of white Burgundy.

Medium lemon-gold in colour, the nose has a slightly reductive character  that reveals zesty white peach and biscuity lemon tart with a pink blossom lift.   Satisfying richness and a light leesey, creamy mouthfeel is balanced with lip-smacking acidity.  With the increasing availability of relatively affordable village-level white Burgundies like this one, I'm happy to ride out my Chardonnay phase as long as it takes!
