The Gianetto is a more recent addition to the Porro stable only being added in the last few years. The site is on the opposite side of the ridge line to Porro's house and winery and would be classed as a a site of interest rather than one of the greats. Despite this the wine that Porro has made from here over the past few vintages has been a pliant, expressive and delicious Barolo. The 2012 is no exception. It is -as always- a slightly more open and aromatic wine; spices and florals dominate the initial waft out of the glass alongside lovely red fruits - more red cherry than anything else. The palate is similarly open and generous showing off the reds fruits and spice elements wihtin a demure and supple texture. It's immediate and delicous Barolo. PWS

Guido Porro's 2012 Barolo Gianetto is a lovely entry-level offering. Sweet macerated cherries, kirsch, mint, pine and rosewater give the 2012 its exotic aromatic profile. Although distinctly medium in body, the 2012 has a lovely backbone of tannin and acidity that gives the wine its distinctive energy and cut. I would cellar the 2012 for a year or two, as there is a bit of tannin that could use more time in bottle to soften. GALLONI, vinous
