Thank you Yarra 2016 vintage. We got crunchy, salavating fresh acidity with refreshing red cherry flavours via Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. Gary Mills has it the nail on the head with these two crushable wines, ready to be drunk immediately at the next BBQ. This pack includes 3 of each wine listed below:

Jamsheed Pepe Le Pinot 2016
Here’s Yarra Valley pinot noir dialled down to a thirst-crushing style, but with some added flair and consideration (like tannins, yay!). Nicely done. Interesting to see what will come from 2016 Yarra pinot. Like this smells of this wine. Red currants, faint mocha, briar, undergrowth, a wild, slightly feral scent but all becoming. Juicy in the palate. Supple wash of spicy, just-ripe red cherry flavours, bright then finishes with steady, low growl of tannins. MIKE BENNIE

Jamsheed Ma Petite Francine Cabernet Franc 2016
Cabernet franc from the Yarra Valley under the watchful gaze of winemaker Gary Mills. I like the culture about these wines. Intuitive to warm climate, share plates, outdoor dining, sunshine, BBQs and the like. Fruitiness, freshness, ease of drinking, a sloshy-bright texture and a gulpable feel. Locked and loaded. It’s muddied black and red berry scents, sniff of herbs, anise whiff, scent of ripe plum. The palate is, as above, loose-knit, but there’s a burst of wicked acidity to keep the thing tidy and fresh. Finishes with amaro-like herb-spice, sweet-sour and a chomp of tannins. Great drinking. MIKE BENNIE www.winefront.com.au
