The Ochota Barrels tale began on a surf trip, late 2000 along the Mexican west coast in a Volkswagen campervan. A final destination after traveling some of the world's best wine and surf regions, Taras and Amber Ochota conceived the idea to make super premium wines back home in South Australia. The Gewürztraminer - made with little between vine and bottle, and designated on the back label as 'mode: dry and textural'. Very refreshing, tense and structured. Should cellar well too. Of the Green Room Grenache "The wine is all about nervous tension", quips Taras Ochota, "it spends 12 weeks on stems and stalks. The vines dates back to 1946. Nouveau style from an old vineyard." The Mouvedre is off vines with serious age, the drink is serious with playful aromatics. With ease I can say this is one of the best small wine projects in Australia. Always in limited release, order quickly.
