Annual Staff Picks Tasting 2019

It is that time of year again, the annual Staff Picks, our Best of the Best from the last twelve months. We have spent the last year working hard to taste through as many great wines from around the world as possible and it all (partially) is leading up to this weekend in December. It’s like the Grand Final of tastings, the Clash of the Titans, The PWS Super Bowl….

Always one of the most fun and more eclectic line-ups of the year. The selection this year from the crew of their favourite tipples for 2019 includes Brut Nature from one of our favourite Champagne houses, Andre Clouet, an every day Provence Rose that is the perfect companion to summer, Bourgogne Blanc from the great man Jean-Marc Pillot which outclasses many of its peers with its pitch perfect style. There is the best Chardonnay made in Oz from the epic 2017 vintage in the Yarra, a wine that won the most prestigious trophy for Chardonnay in the country this year, The James Halliday Chardonnay Challenge, a wine that sets the pace for the variety in Oz today, a modern superstar in making (if you hadn’t guessed by now that is my selection). the last will be going up against a dark-horse, single site, Beechworth Chardonnay from young gun Sentio Wines.

Two top notch Sangiovese from 2016 which was brilliant in Tuscany, Lo Scorno Rosso from San Filippo and Petrolo’s Torrione. Chateau Thivin Sept Vignes 2018, unreal Beauj from the house of a master craftsman and plenty more. It is set to be another sensational line up of wines and we hope you enjoy them as much as we all have. ROSCOE
