Ata Rangi Crimson 2016 Wine of the Week
The team at Ata Rangi has done it again producing another Pinot that is off charts in terms of quality vs hip pocket damage. I realise it was only a handful of months ago that we offered the 2015 and told everyone it was unmissable. Trust us again as the 2016 is easily the equal of its predecessor. This incarnation of what Nick Stock refers to as one of “the great-value Pinot Noirs of the world” is perhaps a little more serious than the 2015 with more depth of fruit and power, it is a little more assertive, but still completely delicious and seriously, seriously enjoyable.
We assume that everyone who grabbed the delicious 2015 has now drunk it all, and I know I couldn’t keep my hands off mine, so here is the opportunity to top up on a new vintage. I have to say here, I am thoroughly impressed with the team at Ata Rangi’s ability to consistently produce a wine that over delivers like this.
