Cantine Pra Soave Classico Otto 2018 Offer
Graziano Prà’s wines offer possibly the best example of what the terroir of Monteforte d’Alpone can deliver. The highly black volcanic soils give wines that are mineral yet powerful, but Prà is especially adept at ensuring the wines also showcase a remarkable degree of finesse.
In my opinion one of Veneto’s two best Soave producers IAN D’AGATA, Vinous 2019
Prà does so many things well it’s hard to know where to start. I can’t think of too many wineries in Veneto that excel to this degree. ANTONIO GALLONI
Soave has to be one of the most versatile and digestible white wines on the planet and while the market is awash with mass produced examples, many of which still fit the bill for their ability to suit a range of food and provide some drinking please, few actually reach the heights of what many would regard as truly great wines. Perhaps there are three or four in the region who reliably and consistently deliver Soave that has that extra element of serious interest, intensity, verve and excitement. Amongst that small and elite group Pra is right on the top of the pile with Pieropan and Suavia for me.
Brothers Sergio and Graziano Pra maintain their property in the traditional region of the DOC that is still widely regarded as the quality heart of the area and where the other top estates are all located. Of the top few estates in the region their style rests on finding a harmonious middle ground between their natural texture and weight with the intensely fresh backbone of acidity they capture so well. The resulting wines, seen so clearly in this 2018, demonstrate remarkable depth and intensity and an energetic and crunchy twang of vibrant fruit.
The 2018 is absolutely cracking and fantastic value at this price. As D’Agata, of Vinous Media, mentions “one of the top ten best buys in white wine that Italy” which I couldn’t agree with more after drinking one on the weekend.
