Chardonnay Banchmarking Tasting 2019

This Saturday we will be taking a brief look into a few Australian Chardonnays and compare their regional characteristics.  To benchmark we will also have Kumeu Rivers Estate open from our kiwi neighbours as well as a couple of our favourite French renditions.

Chardonnay has an illustrious history around the world producing some of the finest white wines.  It can be grown successfully in a vast array of different terroir and express itself well.  Having said that, not all sites are created equal and the meticulous vigneron will raise the bar even higher.

The modern voice of Aussie or New World Chardonnay is often referred to as a “chablis” or ‘burgundian” style.  As much as we love our French burgundy, we feel this shorthand can often brush over the finer details of what is happening with these wines.  And it’s the finer details that has the wine world eternally captivated with this noble grape.

We will have wines from Macedon, Adelaide Hills, Mudgee, Yarra Valley, Huon Valley, Kumeu (NZ), Chablis (FR) & St-Romain (FR).
