Chianti Classico Saturday 2019

Chianti Classico has never been such an exciting wine as it is today JANCIS ROBINSON

There’s so much great drinking to be had in amongst the classics, and Chianti being one that’s close to our hearts, particularly the various hills and slopes at the historic core of the region, denoted by tagging Classico to the end.

Sangiovese and its most famous advocate, Chianti Classico is certainly one Italy’s most versatile and digestible grape varieties. It also has the rare commodity of being able to satisfy the intellectual and visceral requirement of the drinker. While stylistic variations range according to site and whether the maker plonks for a more modern or classic interpretation, the constant is that the wine maintains ripe cherry and savoury aspects with tannins that grip and then fade into the background when combined with food. It’s impervious to the usual seasonal drinking rules and because of it’s innate freshness, can to be consumed in any weather.

In this offer we highlight new wines from regional luminaries such as Querciabella, Felsina, Rocca di Montegrossi, Monsanto Fonetrutoli and more. There’s never been a better time to get into Chianti Classico with the combination of general wine quality being so high compounded by two exceptional vintages.  Chianti Classico Saturday 2019
