Christian Moreau 2017 Offer
The quality here is again so good that I’m tempted to say that Chablis has yet another leading light to add to the usual stars of Raveneau and Dauvissat. BURGHOUND
I hope that it conveys the essence of a region that is really becoming one of the most exciting in Burgundy, a region that currently offers value-for-money that lies in stark contrast to some of the inflated prices down in the Côte d’Or. Basically, if you are thinking of getting into Chablis, of maybe reigniting your interest, then the time to do it is now. NEAL MARTIN, Vinous
Chablis is a wine which many winemakers can make, but only few can bring it home over the finish line to produce a wine which is striking and unforgettable. I drink wine every day, it’s my job (I love my job) and my passion but how often do you have a glass (or bottle) of wine that is left ingrained in your memory? It’s not often, that’s for sure. Christian Moreau is one of those producers who always delivers over and beyond – it helps having 9.5 hectares out of a total of 12 hectares of combined grand cru and premier cru vineyards. A wine won’t make itself however.
Christian Moreau is one of the oldest, most respected names in Chablis and is regarded as amongst the very best produced in the region. Christian and his son, Fabien, work closely to represent both the land and season of Chablis, honing in on precision, purity, typicity, elegance, and the upmost care of grape-handling from harvest right through to bottling. Even the junior wines are hand harvested! This is winemaking at its best.
The 2017 vintage wasn’t without its challenges with frosts, but the silver lining was the enforcement of an extremely meticulous vintage in the winery with only the best of the best grapes being picked. The outcome was of course less yields, but the wine is of outstanding quality and they will age just beautifully.
