Gilbert Picq 2018 New Releases

‘The wines of Picq represent some of the most amazing value in Chablis, not only on account of the reasonable prices asked for their two premier crus, but for the frequently premier cru quality exhibited by their villages wines, a quality that is nothing short of astonishing.’ ROBERT PARKER, The Wine Advocate.

Consistently rave reviews coupled with the impeccable quality of humbly priced Chablis is, honestly, a match made in heaven. After tasting through the new arrivals I feel reinvigorated about drinking fine Chablis and for a fraction of the price! If you don’t already – you should know about these humble heroes of Chichée (a sleepy French oasis in the south of Chablis).

The Picq family has farmed a small collection of vines for several generations. Today the estate belongs to Gilbert’s two sons: Didier and Pascal. Stainless steel is the only vessel used in the winery, in fact: you won’t find a single stave of wood in the entire winery! Stubborn and rightly so!

The brothers are usually one of the last to bottle their wines, utilizing extended lees contact in tank for up to 22 months. The wines are naturally fermented with indigenous yeasts.
The winery is a classic case of how truly amazing wines can be made from more humble vineyards when given the utmost attention and care on all levels.

Drinking gorgeously now and known to age incredibly gracefully.
