Isole E Olena Chianti Classico 2016
Paolo De Marchi describes 2016 as a cool year with a lot of sunshine and well-timed rains, conditions that resulted in slow ripening of the grapes and a late, relaxed harvest that started at the end of September and wrapped up during the second half of October. As for the wines, they are simply off the charts. I don’t know if there is much more I can say than that. ANTONIO GALLONI
2016 could hardly have been more conducive to making some of the best wines ever for Chianti Classico. JAMES SUCKLING
Few things in the world are safe bets or super reliable right now. One thing you can take to the bank is that Paolo de Marchi will make the greatest wines possible at every level in any vintage. 2016 has been touted as one of the all time greats in Tuscany and the cooler, long season plays right in to the hands of the master. His 2016 Chianti is strikingly beautiful and has really come in to its own in the last little while, building more depth and adding flesh to those gorgeous red fruit characters.
This is genuinely beautiful to drink and it’s like Paolo has bottled the essence of the Chianti vintage. A lovely and attractively poised wine that is guaranteed to make a lot of people very happy.
As always we are offering the wine with our usual 15% off for a bottle and more than 20% off in straight six packs or dozens. If you love Italian wine this is for you. If you love red wine this is for you. If you aren’t sure this is still for you. A no brainer from one of Italy’s masters of the craft.
