Jim Barry & Albert Mann - Jim Barry 60th Birthday

This is a very special tasting as it marks the 60th birthday of Jim Barry wines. Peter Barry current custodian of the Barry family legacy is showcasing a selection of special releases alongside the new generation. These wines encapsulates Peter’s dynamic approach to wine in the Clare: the iconic wine of the Armagh Vineyard Shiraz planted by Jim Barry in 1964-68 and elevated to an icon wine by Peter, and Peter’s purchase of the Florita Vineyard, arguably one of the great riesling Vineyards of the Clare, alongside new wines spearheaded by the next generation in Tom, Sam and Olivia: their Assyrtiko and Cabernet Malbec.

It is a privilege to host this living legend of SA wine and the new custodians of the Clare’s vinous heritage and to celebrate there recent accolade as James Halliday Winery of The Year 2020.

Along with Jim Barry we will have Jacky Barthelmé from Albert Mann. The care and dedication the brothers at Mann have taken in the vineyards and winery has rapidly propelled this domain to the upper echelons of Alsace. A focus on bio-dynamics and a purest approach to wine-making results in terroir driven wines of the highest quality. The stable of wines carries an enviable selection plots throughout some of the most sort after vineyards in Alsace. Not one to rest on their laurels the brothers continue to incrementally improve and tweak practices in the vineyards and winery always seeking the best possible expressions of their wines. These wines are as thrilling and exciting as any of the best producers in Alsace and we encourage you to take a look if you have not experienced these wines before.
