Kumeu River Single Site 2016 Release

If you have never tried these wines, then it is time you see for yourself what New Zealand is capable of. All his Chardonnays can be drunk immediately but do resist temptation and save some bottles to drink over 5-6 years (or more) as they can age beautifully. NEAL MARTIN, erobertparker

Kumeu makes the best, most long lived Chardonnays in New Zealand HARVEY STEIMAN, The Wine Spectator

If you can taste history, duty and family pride in a glass, it’s there in the Kumeu River Chardonnays. Sixty odd years on and the brothers have progressed their father’s life’s work, now producing some of New Zealand’s greatest Chardonnays, not to mention the world’s. LISA PEROTTI-BROWN, The Wine Advocate

It’s a big call but I stand by it, Kumeu River makes some of the greatest Chardonnay in New Zealand and indeed the New World. An MW and clearly a gifted wine maker as well, Michael Brajkovich seems to craft such sublime wines year in and year out that it almost borders on unbelievable. His 2016s are looking, predictably, the goods. There is a bit more flesh and a riper fruit profile than the 2015s but also decidedly more upfront appeal. The riper fruits seem most evident in the Coddington which has a lashing of stone fruits and grilled nuts while the Mates flawlessly straddles the line between ripeness and mouth tingling drive.

If you are already fans of these wines then don’t miss out. If you have never had a bottle of Kumeu Chardonnay you don’t know what you are missing. These wines can hold their own in the most esteemed new world company.

As always the quantities of the single sites are extremely limited so please let me know as soon as you can if you would like some to avoid missing out.

Cheers
