Sam Scott’s great-grandfather worked in the cellar for Max Schubert, and passed his knowledge on to Sam’s grandfather. It was he who gave Scott his early education. Sam enrolled in business at university, continuing the casual retailing with Booze Brothers he had started while at school, picking up the trail with Baily and Baily. Next came wine wholesale experience with David Ridge, selling iconic Australian and Italian wines to the trade. This led to a job with Michael Fragos at Tatachilla in 2000, and since then he has been the ?I’ve been everywhere man’, working all over Australia and in California. He moved to Bird in Hand winery at the end of ’06, where Andrew Nugent indicated that it was about time he took the plunge on his own account, and this he has done. Scott is a star in the making.
