Domaine Leflaive is an icon of white Burgundy. JAMES LAWTHER
Anne-Claude Leflaive led the way to the now-widespread adoption of biodynamic viticulture in Burgundy. JANCIS ROBINSON
Domaine Leflaive… A producer that needs very little introduction. Undoubtedly too, one of the best houses in Burgundy.
It was Anne-Claude Leflaive that pathed the way for Burgundy, being one of the first houses to adopt biodynamic priniciples whilst also paying respect to the traditional Burgundian ways. It was her passion and extensive hard work that has inspired many winemakers in the region including Domaine Leflaive’s current winemaker, Pierre Vincent, to continue in her footsteps, implementing new innovations in the winery everyday.
While 2016 wasn’t perhaps the most desirable vintage with the frosts, the grapes that did remain were hand sorted and managed meticulously and as a result, the wines retain the horsepower that constitutes the best white Burgundy. A low-yielding vintage has lead to a tantalisingly rare amount of wine available and I suspect it’ll sell out straight away so to avoid disappointment, I’d suggest getting in quick!
