Maude Pinot Noir 2017 - NZ Wine Awards Champion
A delicious and complex young wine, juicy and light on its feet, showing beautiful refinement, powdery tannins and loads of controlled power. Pure class. WARREN GIBSON, Chief of Judges.
Mary Kate and Dan Dineen have been turning out some Central Otago’s most reliable and interesting pinots for years now. They have effortlessly ridden the wave of worldwide infatuation with the region due to an innate understanding of what it takes to make great wine and price it fairly. We tasted the 2017 recently and were bowled over. I mean they’re always delicious but the 2017 elevates itself to a new level. A blend of two vineyards, Sitting Bull (Lake Dunstan) and Fish Hook Vineyard (Queensbury) in Central Otago it combines the best of each to create a layered and subtly complex wine.
It was no surprise to learn that the wine cleaned-up at the New Zealand Wine Awards at the end of last year taking the trophies for Best Wine, Best NZ Pinot and Best Central Otago Wine. If you love Central Otago pinot, but even if you don’t but love pinot noir then this wine is a absolute ripper.
