Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon needs little introduction. In the pantheon of Australian wine it’s pioneering place at the heart of the Margaret River zone and the rise of premium cabernet therein is already well known. To me though, the fact that the wines remain relevent instead of resting on its stylistic laurels is all the more impressive. Owner and winemaker, Keith Mugford’s prodigious talent continues to turn out intense, varietal and ageworthy wines that are amongst the top couple of Australia’s best cabernets.
Ray Jordan, Australia’s leading expert on Margaret River Wines having covered the region for The West Australian Newspaper for 40 years, named the Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 his Wine of the Year and gave it a 99+ score. The 2015, due to be released on May 1, has all the early signs of being an even better wine than the 2014. We looked at it early this week and we can only confirm it is crackingly good!
Moss Wood owner and Winemaker, Keith Mugford had this to say about the 2015:
“We keep accurate records of vintage conditions and we have never had two seasons so alike as 2014 and 2015. The similarities between temperature, rainfall, season length and ripeness are remarkable. Down the track, it will be interesting to see who of the keen judges will be able to tell them apart in blind tastings…The clue here is the ’15 has a predominance of the floral and black fruit notes and a nicely ripened tannin, perhaps slightly better integrated than its older sibling.”
There is always a great buzz surrounding the Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon release and the limited stock we receive never lasts long.
Please note that this wine is not released until the 1st of May and that your order will be sent as soon as possible after.
