Mt Mary Reflexions Pinot Noir 2018
Superbly refined, elegant and intense Cabernets and usually outstanding and long-lived Pinot Noirs fully justify Mount Mary’s exalted reputation. The determination of the family to continue the business is simply wonderful. JAMES HALLIDAY, The Wine Companion
Reflexion is Mount Mary’s second label. They present pure vinous expressions that are classically styled but perhaps drive with more levity and immediacy than the flag ship wines from this benchmark estate. Simply put the quality found in this range still leaves many of its peers for dead. It’s not about having volume filler, but offering something great to consumers whilst simultaneously refining the upper tier wines.
Just released is this fine boned, delicately savoury Reflexion Pinot Noir from 2018 with a core of fruit that carries this wine in the glass. It is composed mainly of the young vine barrels omitted from the Mt Mary’s flagship Pinot Noir. Winemaker Sam Middleton left these barrels to age a further six months to develop more nuance and inward density. It is designed to drink over the next three to five years, should you invest your patience. Needless to say we’re pretty excited about it.
