New Tolpuddle 2016 Pinot Release

If ever a winery was born with blue blood in its veins, Tolpuddle would have to be it. The vineyard was established in 1988 on a continuous downhill slope facing northeast, and in 06 won the inaugural Tasmanian Vineyard of the Year Award. Michael Hill Smith MW and Martin Shaw are joint managing directors. David LeMire looks after sales and marketing; Adam Wadewitz, one of Australia’s brightest winemaking talents, is senior winemaker; and Ray Guerin, one of Australia’s most experienced viticulturists, with specialist expertise in cool climate vineyards, is group viticulturist. Vineyard manager Carlos Souris loses nothing in comparison, with over 30 years of grape growing in Tasmania under his belt, and an absolutely fearless approach to making a great vineyard even greater. JAMES HALLIDAY

I think James sums it up well in his Wine Companion note about Tolpuddle. If I were a betting man I would have laid down my life savings on a gamble that this will one day be one of the great cool climate wines in Australia. Recent releases have been nothing short of superb and have backed up all the initial excitement around the trade and from consumers in the know. This is like the dream team for Aussie Chardonnay and Pinot with some of the greatest wine minds in country involved.

The new Pinot Noir 2016 has just been released and as yet has not been reviewed but we think this is a sensational wine and are pretty confident the critics will agree. Once again the team at Tolpuddle have released a stunning Tasmanian Pinot.

We are offering the wine at 20% off in six packs and think this is one that should be in the cellars (and glasses) of every Australian Pinot fan.
