New Zealand Pinot Noir Tasting Sydney 2019

New Zealand to many, is synonymous with Pinot Noir which accounts for roughly 15% of the land under vine. The land of the long white cloud continue to prove that its work with this noblest of red grapes is world class with Central Otago garnering plenty of attention with wines that express power and finesse in equal measure. Up on the north-island the vineyards of Martinborough share a similar climate to Burgundy, produce more a restrained style. Not to mention a myriad of terroirs and locations in between. The industry is evolving with maturing vines and maturing minds making the New Zealand Pinot Noir landscape more exciting than ever. Join us for a mini-expo that traverses this land of Pinot Noir, highlighting styles, regions and producers painting a broad picture of what is going on with our dearest neighbours. PWS

It’s been busy winter tasting season here at PWS Sydney with Rizzi Barbaresco & By Farr Masterclasses along side a full slate of Saturday tastings. Aussie icons, Adelaide Hills rising stars and a superb flight of 2016 Chateuaneuf du papes. Not to mention a huge Festa del Barolo event spanning the major grapes and producers of this very special slice of Italian land.

One of my highlights was our New Zealand Pinot Noir tasting which showcased the diversity and focus this small country has achieved in relatively small amount of time.

Below is belated list of my top picks from the day, six wines that I believe give a great snap shot of the current state of play with Kiwi Pinot Noir. Prices are listed at very smart 15% off retail.

BUT THERE IS AN EXTRA DEAL... IF YOU ORDER A DOZEN (mixed or straight) DIRECTLY THEN YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EXTRA 5% TAKING THE TOTAL DISCOUNTS TO 20%

Cheers
