Paradise IV 2018 Release Saved the best till last

Time to add Paradise IV to the list of top Geelong producers. Indeed if Bannockburn, By Farr, Farr Rising, Lethbridge, Curlewis and Paradise IV got together and put the region’s best foot forward as a collective, they would redefine opinion of the region. CAMPBELL MATTINSON. The Wine Front.

Doug Neal has transformed the rebirth of what began as Moorabool Estate into one of the most inspiring labels in Victorian wine: Paradise IV. Largely based around shiraz, the vineyard’s collection of reds marries pure, beautifully presented fruit with fine, appropriately seasoned oak and the finest, crunchiest of tannin backbones – all at old-fashioned modestly alcoholic strengths. The wines are rustic, unashamedly reductive and deliciously complex, delivering a line of purity and elegance before a finish of length and refinement. They will help to redefine Australian shiraz into the next decade and beyond. Of Grand Cru-like strength and stature, the deep, brooding Chardonnay requires patience and time. JEREMY OLIVER

Sadly this will be the last Paradise IV offer we will ever send. For many of you receiving this email, you are already aware of the story but to recap, briefly, for reasons that completely bewildered the industry the people who owned the property decided that they had enough of vines on their land and in 2018 they decided to grub up (pull the vines) the vineyard and thus, hopefully temporarily, wipe out one of Victoria’s greatest sites.

The wines made by Doug at Paradise IV are no stranger to most of you and their huge reputation is justly deserved. It is fitting then that the final installment here would seem to be one of, if not the, greatest to date. In the words of Jeremy Oliver they are “the best ever releases from Paradise IV.” While Doug writes “I have no hesitation in writing that this is the very best release of wines from Paradise IV Vineyard.” Saving the best till last.

We are very honoured to have worked with Doug and have been following these wines from the beginning. So, for the last time we would like to offer the previous buyers the opportunity to purchase a small piece of remarkable Australian wine history.

Please note that Doug’s wines sell out quickly every year and we expect the response to be even more exaggerated this year. Please get in early to avoid missing out.
