Pinot Noir Month Part 3 - European Pinot Noir

In the last of the series on Pinot Noir, this weekend the team here at Essendon are cracking some very fine Burgundy and European Pinot Noir. Sorry, no our budget does not extend to DRC, yet we have a couple of very fine wines from Faiveley then more. Long gone are the days when the major importers dictated the market. I am happy to see small producers getting a guernsey here and we are lucky to see a continuously evolving roster of European wines making it to our shores. Pinot Noir truly has it's home in Burgundy, but there is far more of the grape planted elsewhere in Europe; Champagne itself has more of Pinot Noir vines! Even further afield there has been a long tradition of producing Spatburgunder in Germany and Pinot Nero in Italy.
