Querciabella Classico and Riserva 2015
The 2015 vintage presents consumers with a tremendous opportunity to acquire fine, cellar worthy wines without spending a fortune. In 2015, the warm growing season yielded rich, sumptuous Chianti Classicos with great depth and intensity…readers won’t want to miss the top 2015s. ANTONIO GALLONI
This is a terrific set of wines from Querciabella and winemaker Manfred Ing. These days, I find almost as much pleasure in the Chianti Classico, a wine that delivers serious quality and pedigree for the money. The 2015s exude density while also remaining faithful to their origins. Proprietor Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni deserves all the credit in the world for putting together the team to execute on his vision for making world-class wines that are aligned with his broader philosophical goals of sustainability. These wines are simply gorgeous. That’s all there is to it. ANTONIO GALLONI
We love this wine, we love just about everything that Manfred and the crew at Querciabella are doing these days. If their last few vintages haven’t convinced you that this is now one of the regions, if not all of Italy’s great estates then I honestly don’t know what will. Since the 2015 first arrived, and sold out in mere moments, the regular Chianti Classico has garnered even more praise from the critics having been awarded the coveted Platinum Award by Decanter Magazine at their annual World Wine Awards along with a gargantuan 97 point score, huge by any standards but whopping in the context of Chianti Classico. This was quickly followed up by being names in Wine Spectator’s “Six Killer Chianti”. The hits just keep on coming.
There is no doubt that the 2015 vintage will go down as one of the greats in the region and as if the Classico from them wasn’t good enough already we are just about to land our miniscule allocation of their Riserva. We will be offering these on a strictly first in first served basis as they will sell out very quickly. I encourage you all to do two things, firstly buy a heap of that regular Chianti as it completely over delivers in every way and secondly grab a little Riserva and stash it away for a while. I promise you both will make you very happy when the time comes.
