Ravensworth New Releases 2018

Bryan Martin, a man of many talents. Having assisted Tim Kirk at Clonakilla since 2004, written a food and wine column in the Canberra Times for 10 years, Martin launched his Ravensworth label in 2010.

Bryan’s vineyard is located in Murrumbateman just north of the nation’s capital, where he and his wife, Jocelyn have planted the 2.6ha vineyard with an array of varieties, mainly Shiraz and Riesling but also Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Sangiovese and Garnacha. Bryan farms the vineyard organically – a philosophy that flows through in the winemaking process as well.

This is the second release of Bryan’s 2017 and the first word to that comes to mind is “drinkability”. The wines are so juicy, lively and utterly delicious to drink now. However delicious they are, it is a testament to Bryan as a winemaker that he manages to capture all the above but also add texture, earthiness and structure. If you were one of the lucky few that managed to get a hand of the wines from the first release before selling out, you know what I am talking about and do not wait too long with your order as the wines again are limited.
