Roero and Rioja

This Saturday we be joined by the dynamic winemaker Giovanni Correggia and  Spanish wine expert / wine importer Scott Wasley to present a range of wines from historic wine regions Piemonte (Italy) and Rioja (Spain).

Matteo Correggia – ROERO, Italy
Correggia is a perennial favourite amongst PWS staff and more importantly our customers. This important estate proved that Piemonte’s Roero district could rival its more famous neighbours in the Langhe, offering superb drinking and incredible value.   Giovanni Correggia follows in his fathers footsteps guiding the winery into the future.  He will be here to guide you through the latest releases of Arneis & Nebbiolo.

The Spanish Acquisition – RIOJA, Spain
Rioja is often considered old school, if you get the chance to open some well aged bottles you will understand that this not a bad thing by any means. However, the qualitative system in Rioja has recently undergone some fundamental changes.  Most notably giving producers the room to promote regionality and single site wines alongside historic classifications that regulate yield, time in oak etc. This is an exciting development and there’s no one better than Scott Wasley to dissect this progression with great wines from his portfolio of top shelf producers.
