Spanish Tinto Pardito 2019

Those who’ve been following our tastings for a few years may have noticed that we are getting excited about the wines of Spain. Re-emerging regions such as Galicia alongside the established regions of Rioja are undergoing a renaissance. Fortunately, many of these exciting new producers are increasingly being imported into Australia and we are often impressed by the quality and value for money that these wines represent.

We believe these wines highlight some of the more exiting wines from Spain: Mencia from Ribera Sacra and Galicia, Tempranillo & Garnacha from an exciting new group of producers from Rioja (Rioja’n’Roll) and powerful reds from Ribera del Duro.

From the steep terraced vineyards of Galicia's Ribera del Duro comes some bright refreshing Menica, a grape variety that has a little familiarity with both Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo.

From Rioja we have four wines representing a new wave of exciting producers who are focused on the unique terroir of this spectacular region - a terroir which has historically often been blended away into high volume wines which sometimes lacked identity.

Finally, from Ribera we have structured, and powerful reds based on dry grown Tempranillo vines and well-balanced use of oak, which deserve further time in the cellar.

We have done a special mixed dozen with additional discount so that if you can’t get to the tasting you can do your own at home.
