Three degrees of Separation

Sometimes the theme of a tasting needs to be just great interesting wine…

So this week we are running a little Kevin Bacon tasting – each of these producers knows someone who knows someone… who knows Alex Wilcox. But in all seriousness we’ve looked at the new releases from Moorooduc Estate and the 2015 pinots are simply stunning. The 2014 chardonnays are delicious and in a style that defies the trend of lean (and occasionally mean) chardonnay. Alex and Kate McIntyre worked together years ago and have remained great friends… Gilles Lapalus has struck out on his own with Australia’s original Vermouth: Maidenii and his label Bertrand Bespoke is back with an occasionally quirky and always interesting set of wines from Heathcote fruit. Gilles and Alex worked together at Tenuta di Valgiano in Tuscany… Finally Adam Foster has produced the strongest set of wines of his career – they are fantastic. Adam also employs Roscoe as an Olive picker in his spare time, and Alex employs Roscoe so…

And there you have it. Tenuous at best but the wines speak for themselves which is all that really matters.

Cheers
