Tokar Estate Shiraz 2017 - Trevor Mast Trophy Winner
Leon Tokar established 12ha of now mature chardonnay, pinot noir, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and tempranillo at Tokar Estate, one of many vineyards on Maddens Lane. All the wines have performed well in regional shows, with early (and continued) success for the Tempranillo, and very distinguished Cabernet Sauvignon. JAMES HALLIDAY, Wine Companion.
Martin Siebert joined the Tokar Estate family in 2012. His experience extends from work in renowned wineries overseas such as Benjamin Leroux (Burgundy, France), Pegasus Bay (Canterbury, New Zealand) and Yarra Yering (Yarra Valley, Victoria). The pedigree of his winemaking skills, focus on growing quality fruit, and minimal intervention approach is the key to his success in the winery. We have been fans for a while now and each year these are always a strong set of releases which we keep perpetually on the shelves.
Most recently the Tokar Estat Shiraz 2017 has picked up the Trevor Mast Trophy award Honouring a legend of the Victorian wine industry. This recognises Trevor’s lifetime contribution to the Australian wine industry and in particular his visionary cool-climate Shiraz at Victoria’s Mount Langi Vineyards. While there are no reviews at this time there is no doubt that this will a be fantastic drop and a well-deserved accolade for this consistently great wine.
