Wickhams Road 2019 Release

Franco D’Anna of Hoddles Creek/Wickhams Road continues to consistently craft some of this country’s best value Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. They manage vineyards in both the Yarra and Gippsland and treat the Wickhams Road production exactly as they would with their Hoddles Creek range. D’Anna’s viticulture experience expands to all corners of the world. He has gained incredible knowledge from many innovative key players in the wine industry including names like: Pierre Naigeon, Gevrey-Chambertin and Passopisciaro on Mount Etna, Sicily.
The key to Hoddles Creek success has been the constant focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and that is something that has 100% translated in the Wickhams Road range. Honestly: the best value coming out of two stellar regions.

Gippsland Vineyard: We manage an 8 hectare vineyard planted solely to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It is a great site as it is cool, free draining and the vines are now 17 years old. The vineyard is trellised to VSP and is always cane pruned. During the winter months, we run sheep through the property to reduce the reliance on chemical control for weeds and grasses. The resulted wines are balanced, and require no acidification or fining. HODDLES CREEK

Yarra Valley Vineyard: Over the last three years, we have been moving the fruit source to completely Upper Yarra Valley. The Upper Yarra has the advantages of cool nights and less heat spikes than the valley floor. Growing grapes in the right climates enables us to make wine without intervention. No acidification or manipulation of the wines to make them stable for future ageing. HODDLES CREEK
