Yann Chave 2018 Crozes Hermitage Offer

This has been a rather overlooked domaine for many years. But it has been completely revitalised by one of the best young men to appear in the northern Rhone in the past dozen years, Yann Chave. JOHN LIVINGSTONE-LEARMONTH, The Wines of the Northern Rhone

I continue to love these wines from Yann Chave. He makes a rock-solid white and two reds from Crozes Hermitage and a small amount of Hermitage. They’re all loaded with character and highly recommended. JEB DUNNUCK, The Wine Advocate

In many years this wine is among the best value Crozes, or any Northern Rhone Syrah, we get to taste. In 2018 it has really been ratcheted up a notch on the quality scale. The vintage conditions have really played in to Yann’s hands and given him the perfect palette with which to paint his ideal Crozes.

As long term fans of Chave will know he is a proponent of drinking his wines on the somewhat more youthful side where the most pleasure is provided. In no other wine in his stable is that goal of pure drinking joy as abundantly obvious as it is here in his 2018 Crozes, a wine that is, as Raynolds notes, the best example of this benchmark wine to date.

While Chave Crozes is always one of the best value Syrah on the market in this calibre we are offering it in straight six packs or dozens for only $55 a bottle (more than 25% off) which, we think, makes it the greatest value Crozes of the quality on the market here at the moment.

This is the kind of wine you buy in cases and drink whenever the hankering takes you. As good as it is now, and it really is, it has the requisite stuffing to build a little in the bottle if that is your penchant. For me though, I would be opening these over the coming winter months and into spring. You try one you will see why. This is one of the year’s great wine bargains.
