The 2017 Vray Croix de Gay is magnificent. Soaring in its aromatics and classically medium in body, the 2017 Vray Croix de Gay is superb. There is lovely depth and nuance to the inky fruit, lavender, spice and menthol notes, but above all else, the 2017 stands out for its poise and regal balance. Bright, precise and sculpted, with striking finesse, the 2017 has so much to recommend it. Consulting winemaker Jean-Claude Berrouet has helped move Vray Croix de Gay in a very positive direction. Tasted two times. (92-95) ANTONIO GALLONI

The 2017 Vray Croix de Gay, now co-owned by the Artemis Group of François Pinault (see Château Latour) has an attractive, quite focused bouquet with mineral-driven red berry fruit laced with subtle iodine and marine aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin, gentle grip, well judged acidity with a sense of tension coming through towards the finish. This is a well crafted Pomerol that I envisage maturing with style. One to watch. (90-92) NEAL MARTIN
