WSET Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits


The Level 3 qualification is designed to give a thorough understanding of the principal wines and spirits of the world and their commercial importance in the world's liquor market. The qualification will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of wines and spirits with regard to their commercial value. Holders of the WSET level 3 Award in Wines will be able to describe the characteristics of the principle wines and spirits of the world and give information on the key factors influencing style, quality and value.

This course is very suitable for people who are not employed within the drinks industry but wish to learn more about the subject. It is important that potential students appreciate that this is primarily a professional development course for the drinks industry and is approached in that way by our tutors.

As of 2013, the WSET level 2 qualification or equivalent is expected before enrolment in the Level 3 course.  In some cases, prior education and industry experience may be taken in to account.

Once you have paid, in full, for your WSET Level 3 Course you can collect your classroom booklet and materials from the Prince Wine Store, 177 Bank Street, South Melbourne.
You will also receive throughout the course a crib sheet with lecturer tasting notes.

Please note that additional charges are applicable for all exam re-sits and non-attendance.
Level 3 full exam resit : $150
Theory exam only resit : $100
Tasting exam only resit : $50
Non-attendance of registered exam : $50


30 Hours of Tutition and a 2 and half hour exam, over 11 weeks

Time & Venue

15 x 2 hour sessions. Consisting of 9 x Monday evening 6-8pm sessions , and two intensive  Saturdays 9.30am to 5.30pm.

A multiple choice paper of fifty questions: pass mark 55%
A short written answer paper of four questions: pass mark 55%
A tasting examination: Correctly identify two wines and produce a written analysis using WSET level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting.
