Dockyard G+T Pack
A pack containing the brilliant Dockyard Copper Rivet Gin and a 4 pack of Strangelove No. 8 Tonic. Summer is covered!
The distillery is a relatively new operation headed by Bob Russell and sons, Matthew and Stephen. It is unique in several senses but first off it is housed in a Victorian-era pumphouse in the now derelict Chatham Dockyard south of London. The dockyard was at one time of huge importance to the Empire building ships for the Royal Navy from Napoleonic times through to the Falklands. The pumphouse # 5 was used to pump out water for the dry docks. Russell saw an opportunity to revitalise a magnificent piece of English architecture, give some locals a job and indulge his passion for making bespoke spirits. To do this he decided to take the road less travelled in distilling and instead of buying in bulk spirit to make his Gin

Copper Rivet Dockyard Gin 500ml 41.2% alc
Distilled using locally grown barley and Kentish water, this is as fresh and bright as a sunny spring day in the countryside. Elegant and refined gin, with a lovely, half floral, half herbal lift. I tasted it before learning what botanicals had been used in its production, and suspect its fragrant quality comes from the local elderflowers. MAX ALLEN

Louis Picamelot Cremant de Bourgogne Brut Les Terroirs RoseOne of the crew called this “soft and mellow” I can see where that comes from, it certainly has a lovely mouth filling quality and all those billowing soft bubbles provide such a sensual cushioning effect, but the wine lacks nothing for racy energy either. I don't think its soft, I think it's lush!
Also, I love the fine chalkiness that punctuates the fruit. Like its BdB sibling the lights are flashing and the sirens are cranked up, they don’t shy away from the winemaking and let’s be honest, that’s what makes Champa… sparkling wines like this so exciting. Even with that distinct autolytic creaminess the wines overall impression is one of flirtatious elegance. It is my pick of the two, but only just, and it pips its sibling on refinement if not substance. ROSCOEFrance358$45.00 As low as $40.50 -
724 Prosecco Extra Dry NVFrom the hills around the famed Valdobbiadene growing region quin-tessential to Prosecco, Vini 724 produce a Prosecco of energy, vibrancy and clarity of fruit character ideally suited to the style
When we initially tasted the wine from the cellars it impressed us for its value and character, but left plenty to be desired by way of packag-ing. Thus, for the re-creation of the label the producer collaborated with a professional illustrator and journalist who has wide experience in the world of food and wine.

Wheeler Gamut Red Blend 2021Winemaker Dale Wheeler has been deeply immersed in the Victorian wine industry since 2012, relocating to Melbourne from Brisbane to study Viticulture and Winemaking. For a number of years he worked growing fruit and making wine within the Yarra Valley for Strenua, while also completing a number of vintages for other producers within the region and his experience shows. These are confident wines with lots of immediate appeal.
Gamut 2021 is a thirst-quenching medium-weight juicy red, perfect with a light chill. Made using 100% Upper Yarra Valley fruit, predominantly consisting of Merlot from Yarra Junction - lightly macerated and 40% whole bunch Pinot Noir from Gladysdale. Naturally fermented, with no other additions beyond sulphur prior to bottling. Unfined/unfiltered/vegan.
Plenty of red liquorice, mixed berries, and river rocks on the nose. A touch of soft spice and a savoury bay like note. The palate is crunchy and fresh with a lovely balance of sumptuous fruits and soft but present tannins shaping a delicious moreish finish. Perfect summer red and something you could throw a slight chill on if you were so inclined.

Head Wines Old Vine Grenache 2020
From a vineyard in Krondorf. 80 year old vines with 8% Mataro.
GW: Juicy, purple, ripe raspberry, brown spices. Gummy feel, saucy and spicy, tannin has some grit, and finish is jubey and fairly long. Feels a little different from the usual offerings from Head, in terms of Grenache, though that’s perhaps a function of the vintage. GARY WALSH, The Wine Front

Agathist Alchemy Second Wine Grenache 2016
100% Grenache, Seppeltsfield, Barossa
Agathist Alchemy is a label from Barossa Valley guru, Craig Isbel who is also one of the people behind Izway Wines. Here he produces two wines from a single vineyard located across the road from his family home. It is owned & farmed organically by vigneron Nick Radford. The wines are produced in small batches of no larger than 500 kilo - wild ferments. The use of sulphur is minimal with tiny amounts used just after malo and at bottling. Other than this no other additions are used whatsoever. These are compact, elegant and character driven wines from a Barossa valley expert.
This is a cracker… A wild perfume of red berries, briar, fennel, undergrowth, old campfire. Really quite compelling. Just on medium weight, serious ‘pinosity’, if that’s a thing, light, fine, silken flow, slender grip of tannin dips into savouriness and yet the wine finds succulence in pure, red berry and rose water fruit character. Sheesh, this is fine grenache.’ MIKE BENNIE, The Wine Front2016GrenacheAustralia349$45.00 As low as $40.50 -
Domaine de L'Eveche Cote Chalonnaise Clos de l'Eveche 2020A small family run Domaine of just over 12 hectares, purchased by the Joussier family in 1985, with vines initially known to have been cultivated in the middle ages, situated in Saint Denis de Vaux, tucked away in the heart of the Cote Chalonnaise “value” area of Burgundy.
Clos de l'Eveche all sourced from a hillside site on clay and limestone soils with grapes destemmed and fermented in open tanks. There is large 1400 litre oak barrels use for ageing that mellow this wines out so beautifully.
Lots of bright red fruits and a raspberry hit intermingled with soft peppercorn spice and a gentle earthy tug. It's generous and unfurls its up-front fruit slowly over your palate. Its such an inviting drink and there was plenty of ooh's and ah's from the tasting table. Soft minerally tannins give frame the fruit nicely and overall there is a lovely sense of ease about this wine that gives it so much immediate appeal. Its how much? Must be a mistake! Stellar value!

Le Marie Dolcetto d'Alba 2020
The winery "Le Marie" comes from the passion for winemaking of the owner Valerio, his wife Luigina, and their children Simona and Daniele. The result are wines of personality, pure and elegant, produced in limited quantity and in respect of the territory, with environmentally friendly practices. The ten hectares of vineyards are between 400 and 450 meters. The land is rich in minerals that give the wines great structure and wonderful nuance.
Packed full of up-front blue and red fruits laced with peppery spice and vanilla. The palate is pliant and soft with a little nervy energy that flows through the red raspberry and currant fruit. A soft little snap of tannin that buttresses the sweet fruit nicely adds a little extra complexity. This is perfect trattoria fair and super versatile on the dinner table.

Murdoch Hills Sulky Rouge 201650% Syrah, 25% Pinot Noir 25% Merlot Syrah from an early harvest sourced from our estate vineyard in Oakbank, spontaneous ferment with varying levels of whole bunches combined with a gentle extraction to keep the wine vibrant and delicate. Merlot made in the same technique from a vineyard in Lenswood giving a lush soft red/blue-fruit spectrum, whilst a selection of Pinot Noir from Piccadilly Valley provides exotic spice and a savory edge. Overall a vibrant red-fruited wine with gamey meaty qualities that show bright cherry fruits and underlining spice, the juicy fruit flows on the palate to a fine grainy tannin profile. Monteguelfo Chianti DOCG 2020Wow! This was such a wonderful surprise and terrific value Chianti from the estates of Andrea Cecchi. Made from 90% Sangiovese and 10% Colorino, the wine does not see any oak and has a tradiotional leaning and plenty of character, particularly for a wine at this price. The Cecchi family has 125 years of winemaking history and have some excellent vineyards at their disposal.
It's a wonderfully vibrant & fresh expression of sangiovese that retains its fleshy and soft fruits throughout with a pillowy texture. Hints of black cherry and wild forest fruits with a touch of leather and some savoury dried herbs.

Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2020
AA Badenhorst Family Wines are grown, made and matured on Kalmoesfontein farm in
the Swartland appellation of South Africa. The 28ha of old bushvines grow in the
Siebritskloof part of the Paardeberg mountain.
Cousins Hein and Adi Badenhorst are at the helm of this fantastic estate with a rich history in the region. Adi was a founding member of the Swartland Revolution and Swartland Independent and is a parrot farmer, LP collector, egg poaching pro, tea connoisseur, Land Cruiser driver, ponytail wearer and local legend (just ask him).
Classic styled Cape Chenin but with a wonderful modern outlook. Floral and honey-dew melon with a touch of citrus and steely notes. The mouth has the lightest touch of sweetness that is quckly drawn out by the bone-drying acidity which lend a wonderful poise and light touch to the wine. This comes of dry, don't worry but has a lovely plush element to the fruit. Great stuff and may have you falling in love with Chenin and South African wines on one-foul-swoop! Tahbilk 1927 Vines Marsanne 2014A benchmark, of course, here from 2014. Matured gracefully.
Tart and tangy acidity is a strong feature, so too the soft, mallow like texture around it. Lemon balm and curd, green apple, grapefruit pulp and a general sense of talc-chalk minerally character. Moreish and mouth-watering here, fresh yet in an early stage of maturity. So delicious. MIKE BENNIE, winefront.com

Paolo Scavino Barolo Carobric 2017This wine is a historic blend of fruit from Rocche di Castiglione, Cannubi and Bric dël Fiasc. Because the Cannubi lease was not renewed, Carobric will be very different after the 2018 vintage. However, the Paolo Scavino 2017 Barolo Carobric delivers what we love about this wine. Laherte Freres Rose de Meunier Brut NVAurelien finds his blended rose his most challenging wine to make, with the tannins of red wine clashing with the citrus of chardonnay, hence the blend is predominately black grapes, including some from his wife's family in Bouzy. In future it will include a portion macerated on skins. For now, it's pretty medium salmon-pink hue, with soft, gentle fruit profile and creamy bead. A savoury mouthfeel if dry extract grip leaves the finish firm and bitter. TYSON STELZERNVChampagneFrance376$130.00 As low as $117.00

Marcel Malbec 2018Château du Cèdre is widely regarded as the leading estate in Cahors. Brothers Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe, both qualified oenologists, can trace its history back to their grandfather Léon who left his native Flanders to settle in south-west France in the early 1900s. In due course Léon’s son Charles and his wife Marie-Thérèse started a mixed farm in 1958 and began planting one hectare of vines in three different plots every year.
This is made from fruit that doesn't make the estate range and also bought fruit from the greater southwest area. Sees no oak.
This is the soft and juicy side of Malbec with mulberry and damson fruit flecked with violet and sweet spice. The usual Cahor tannins are melted away into the pluch fruit and this is made to drink young and in fron of a fire. Great examlpe of what the southwest can do at this level when given a little care and attention. PWS
100% Malbec from purchased fruit grown on the 1st and 2nd terraces close to the river. The fruit is 100% de-stemmed and crushed, then the juice given a 3-4 day cold soak, to extract colour and a little tannin, before being pressed and cool-fermented in stainless steel. Matured in concrete tanks for 6-8 months. 'This shows the soft, juicy side of Malbec. No serious tannins here, just red berry fruit and fine acidity. That means it's ready to drink this winter.' Beyond the Pines “Viceroy” Syrah 2020This little gem comes from a mate and ex-employee Matt Keoghan and sourced from his family property in the Adelaide Hills. The family have been in the business for ages so know what they are doing when it comes to putting out quality fruit and this certainly delivers.
This sees about 40% whole bunch and ten months in old oak with no additions and just a touch of sulphur at bottling. It's the kind of syrah we love, elegant in style that ties in pretty, violet florals, dark berry and mulberry fruit with a dash of green herbs and olive. Judicial oak frames the sweet fruits nicely, Succulent and soft but doesn't shy away from being a little bit serious too.

Freycinet Chardonnay 2018Claude has done you an absolute solid with this beauty. The trick is to buy the little brother Louis and drink that whilst you hide the 2018 somewhere far, far away from your wine glass for the next few years.
The 2018 manages to be both rich and so, so delicate. This is all toasted nuts, soft vanilla, ripe and freshly squeezed lemons, apple danish, apricots, honeysuckle and peach blossoms.
This will age into a soft, savoury, mushroomy delight as the years pass by. There's plenty of acidity and bright fresh fruit to see it into old age, whereby a more recent iteration of Louis Chardonnay shall be left in the cupboard and its older sibling will emerge in time for dinner all mature and reflective. Cracking. THE WINE FRONT
This is like an old school chardonnay that has been on a health kick. It doesn't shy away from power, intensity, volume, richness or depth but it also seems to burst in to life when it hits your mouth. Loaded up with character and fruit that is effortlessly matched by crackling energy. It is a bottle of pure class. The palate slowly winds down with a repeating flourish of fruit and energy. As good as this is now, and it is really bloody good, it will reward some patience. Everyone who loves Chardonnay will inhale this thing. ROSCOE

Scout Wines Pinot x Pinot 2021Sarah and Greg are making fantastic wines from New Zealand's south island where their approach to site, viticulture and picking along with their gentle way in the winery, see them creating pure and forward wines with subtle complexity. Continually questioning all aspects of grape growing and winemaking, as well as challenging established ideas and practices, have been key to this small producer establishing a trademark stance for quality above all else. This release is one of the best we have seen.
This is 90% Pinot Noir with 10% Pinot Gris-the two varieties are not often blended, but together they provide Scout with an ode to Beaujolais-resulting in a bright, light, crunchy and delicious red wine. It was sourced from two vineyards in Central Otago, both organically managed and harvested by hand. Components of this wine were allowed to undergo spontaneous carbonic maceration over 7-14 days. After this time, the grapes were foot-stomped and finished the ferment on skins. Once pressed, it was aged in old oak for six months before bottling in September.2019Pinot noirNew Zealand$35.00 As low as $31.50 -

Domaine la Roubine Gigondas 2019
Lovely nose, lavender and plum, really transports you to the place. This is rounded and soft with acidity that is fairly low. Succulent and deeply fruited with loads of soft, pliant, massy fruit tannin - it's quite saturated. Very much of its vintage and also of its place. MATT WALLS, Decanter
Typically this wine is in the more middle weight spectrum of Gigondas but this guy eases in to full bodied and generous category and does so with aplomb. A generously fruited and voluminous wine that boldly fills your mouth and doesn't shy away from its sumptuousness, rather it embraces all that power and weight as it delivers an array of ripe fruit, rocky minerality, little swirls of cool boysenberry like notes play their part as well. Dusty/powdery tannins make their presence felt just enough to stop this feeling like it's full throttled. I think it needs a little time, three or four years, to come together properly but if you opened one now and decanted it for a while it wouldn't be a shame, with some air more of the usual perfume and cooler edged fruit begins to appear. Escondido Equilibrio Mei e Meio Red Blend 2015Escondido Wines is the project of Michael Wren who was a winemaker for one of Portugal's top producers, Esporao, before opening Wren Estate, based in Heathcote. Whilst running their Douro winery, Quinta dos Murcas, Wren sourced grapes from a brilliant vineyard, in the cooler Dao region to the south of the Douro. The Dao is marked by higher altitudes and heavy granite soils and for Wren this region is the true home of Portugal's best known red variety - Touriga Nacional. The Dao produces pretty, structured Touriga Nacional that is bright and blue fruited with fresh acidity with clear mineral notes.
The Escondido Meio e Meio comes from 2015 which was a very cool vintage, so this wine was very tightly wound when first botted but has opened up beautifully and is drinking wonderfully at present. Meio e Meio translates as half/half, referring to the composition of the wine. 50% Touriga Nacional and 50% Jaen (Mencia in Spain) which brings some balancing red fruit and tannin to the blend.

Palacios Remondo La Montesa 2018Tasted blind. 750,000 bottles of this quality - this is a joke, right? There are very few wineries capable of achieving such a feat! This gives this wine, if possible, even greater value. Aerial work. Super-burgundian, with a pure expression of fruit delicately accompanied by oak. Believe me, it is very difficult to do this from an oenological level. Very pleasant red with fresh strawberries and blended with notes of aromatic spices. It is not a wine with too much extraction, they are looking for a soft and delicate profile, of freshness. Fine, aerial work, almost without extraction. I love this delicate expression of Garnacha. Let me get excited about this wine, OK? FERRAN CENTELLES, jancisrobinson.com2018GrenacheSpain472

Paolo Scavino Barolo Monvigliero 2017The Paolo Scavino 2017 Barolo Monvigliero is a soft and graceful wine that shows blue flower, dried lavender and rosemary essence. Those Mediterranean aromas give this wine an especially distinctive personality, and you might also sense some white pepper and dried licorice root. This wine is soft and nicely flesh out with shored-up acidity and tannins. MONICA LARNER, Wine Advocate2016NebbioloItaly457$205.00 As low as $184.50

Trimbach Reserve Riesling 2018 375mlTrimbach is at the summit of dry white winemaking. CLIVE COATEDS M.W.
With viticultural origins going back to 1626 this family owned estate produces some of the finest wines not only of Alsace, but indeed the entire world of wine. Around the villages of Ribeauvillé and Hunawihr, the Trimbach family owns 57 hectares of vineyards from some of the most famed sites in the region.
The reserve wines are sourced from rigorously selected grapes grown in and around Ribeauville and surrounding villages. They are fermented dry and text book example of classic Alsace fair.
Quince, pear and apple with a touch of mandarin open to an exotic and layered nose. There is a touch of lime zest and white pepper folded into the soft fruits. The clean pristine fruit is sliced down the middle of the palate with a racy, tight quartz-mineral core. On the close the palate shifts toward more tropical notes and a sense of opulence that is kept in check by a dry and mineral finish. PWS2018RieslingFrance343$31.00 As low as $27.90 -
Merinas Airen Viura 2020A blend of Airén, Viura and Verdejo grapes from organic dry-farmed vineyards. This is under the Mesta umbrella of which we have featured numerous wines over the years. They represent incredible value given the quality material that goes into their wines. Here, the vines are over 30 years average age and managed as an integrated ecosystem where no pesticides are used, organic manure is the only fertiliser applied and weed control is done by light, superficial tilling.
There is a lovely soft mix of peach, apple and summer tree fruits sprinkled with a gentle white pepper element. Round, juicy and refreshing with punchy flavours that burst onto the palate. Unoaked and unadulterated and all the better for it. It finishes crisp and clean.

Soho Wine Co Peggy Sauvignon Blanc 2020Fabulously fruited and brightly expressed with feijoa, Granny Smith apple, lemon/lime zest and floral aromas on the nose, followed by a flavoursome palate delivering excellent fruit intensity and juicy acidity. SAM KIM, Wine Orbit
This is part of the entry level range from the highly regarded Soho wines. A combination of Wairau & Awatere Valley's in the Marlborough this straddles a wonderful bridge between the tropical fruit bombs and more racy versions of sauvignon blanc we see in regions like the Adelaide Hills. It does it with style and grace too and doesn't leave any of that Marlborough goodness out but in a more focused and fine package.
