January Premium 6-pack 2021 - Head Wines Back Vintage Magnum PackHead Wines is the venture of Alex Head. In 1997, he finished a degree in biochemistry from Sydney University. Experience in fine wine stores, importers and an auction house was followed by vintage work at wineries he admired: Tyrrell's, Torbreck, Laughing Jack and Cirillo Estate. JAMES HALLIDAY
Alex Head has made a name for himself in a short time. We have been lucky enough to part of his journey since inception and for us the wines represent a modern, dialled-down and focused style that offer a wonderful counterpoint to the 'typical' Barossa Shiraz.
Heady, as we affectionately know him, has always had a strong influence from his counterparts in Europe and in particular from the Cote Rotie. This influence has even made its way into his labelling where two of the wines, The Brunette and The Blonde, are named after the two most fabled hills in Cote-Rotie, the Cote Blonde and the Cote Brune.
We have been offered magnums from Heady's personal collection before and snapped them up so when offered again recently we couldn't help but put something together. This is a cracking little selection of 3 of our favourite wines from the extensive line-up.
The two 'crus' are from 2014, and while considered a cooler and sometimes more a-typical Barossa vintage, we have always found many of the wines from that vintage to be beautifully svelte with lovely verve and energy. This is absolutely the case here, and the combination of vintage, large format and perfect cellarage is going to be a real treat.
The 2016 offered up a great vintage with ideal conditions producing dense colour, and rich, vibrant flavours. A touch of rain later in February quenched the thirst of some of the drier vineyards helping to bring home a wonderful offering from Head in particular. A better priced, aged Shiraz in large format would be difficult, if not impossible to find.

SC Pannell Basso Garnacha 2018Steven Pannell is one of Australia's greatest wine-makers. There would be few who would argue otherwise. His work particularly with old vine Grenache and Portuguese varietals is some of his best and his recent acquisition of fantastic old vine material to his portfolio would make most jealous. He is truly one who believes less is more when it comes to wine-making and the proof is truly in the purchase when it comes to his wines. PWS
This is a youthful, flavoursome wine to make you smile! STEVE PANNELL
Raspberry, iron-filings, flowers and spice. It’s medium-bodied, juicy and lively, exuberant, but not sweet, with an under-current of ironstone, fine-grained tannin, cranberry acidity, and a musky perfumed finish of solid length, a stroke of emery tannin keeping it neat. It’s flat out delicious. Highly recommended. GARY WALSH, The Wine Front2018GrenacheAustralia436$27.00 As low as $24.30
Taste of Tassie 2021 Super Six Pack
Tasmania has become such a hot-bed of awesome talent and great wine. As one of Australia's coolest wine growing regions pinot noir and chardonnay have excelled and sparkling wine still proves to be one of its crown jewels. These have been mainstays of the Apple Isle for some time and there looks this to be no stopping the tide of incredible examples of each making their way across the Tasman.
Fast-forward a generation and we are really starting to see what the verdant land can really turn out. In our mind some of the best Euro-styled rieslings are being produced there while the marginal climates and savvy wine-making are turning out some stellar textural pinot gris.
While pinot noir may reign supreme it is other reds like shiraz, that may, in time, prove to be something even more special. Time will tell and while it does we will happily sip our way through all that Tasmania's has to offer.$209.00 Regular Price $248.00

May Premium Pack 2021 - Alternative Burgundy Pack
There is no doubt that the prices in Burgundy are starting to move beyond what us mere mortals can afford. So, to remedy the situation we have put together a cracking compliment of great burgundy from a selection of the regions underrated regions.
The slightly warmer reached of Burgundies south offer an up a diverse set of topographies and soils that are the perfect foil for pinot. These are regions that fly under the radar and while they may not be getting the attention they deserve they are producing some fantastic pinot with real character and charm.
These ‘satellite’ appellations, as they are often referred too, are coming into there own and with savvy winemakers and growers recognising the awesome potential now has never been a better a better time to explore.
We start with Marsannay and along with Santenay probably one of the better know quality producers of pinot outside of the most famous villages of the Cote de Nuit. In style it resembles its close neighbours in Fixin and Gevrey Chambertin with a morello cherry attack, black currant fruits and a mellow and generous body that often flows into a meaty, savoury finish.
The wines of Collotte already offer incredible value and given the quality of the two plots of limestone rich soil this comes off as an impressive wine. The husband-and-wife team use only a touch of new oak on there more premium cuvees allowing a purity and sense of sauvage to shine through here their other cuvees.
Fruther south Santenay and Auxey Duresses are also close neighbours and remain a part of the Cote-de-beaune. Santenay sits off to the far southern tip with Auxey nestled in between Volnay, Mersault and Puligny Montrachet.
Auxey includes 9 premiere crus with its mid-weight black and red fruits often off-set by some velvety, fine boned but moderate tannins. The Domaine Florence Cholet wines harness this beautifully with grace and charm. The wines have incredible buoyancy and racy-ness that is hard to not be a little taken by – fantastic stuff
Santennay follows in the footsteps of the Beaune with soft and round edges to the wines and a floral lift reminiscent of the wines of Volnay. They are a touch more supple in their nature then their northern cousins but with a slight more wild fruit profile.
Abbaye de Santenay are firmly focused on the vineyards where Ludovic and his team maintain the vines in a rigorous way to obtain high quality fruit. The philosophy of the domaine is to get the best of the terroirs, respecting nature and preserving the finesse of the wines.
Further south in the Cote Chalonnaise as the land broadens out and the sun gently warms the rolling hills. Its like of top-quality sites when compared to its cousins in the north is more than made up by its consistent quality and excellent value.
Mercurey in particular is amongst one of the best villages to source and even producers such as Faiveley have actively been involved in the region for decades, recognising the potential for quality. It bears a few premier cru sites that sit in best positions and offers up some of the more full bodied firmer wines, particularly in their youth.$349.00 Regular Price $415.00

July Premium 6-pack 2021 - Gaga for GrenacheHow good is grenache!? Here in Australia, there has been a renaissance of sorts and we have been producing some of the best examples now that we have in decades. Access to some the worlds oldest planting has certainly been an advantage but a move towards fresher and brighter styles has been a welcome change.
Outside of that it wouldn't be hard to argue that France is the varietals spiritual home with the southern Rhone taking the lead. However, Spain is hot on its heals with its own grenache revival going on. Wines being produced from crazy old bush vines and sandy soils has got us pretty excited of late so watch this space.
And lets not forget grenache isn't only red with this months pack featuring a cheeky grenache gris, a treat, a pleasant surprise and something a little different of couse.
We have a cheeky one to start with a white grenache gris blend. The wines of Mas Amile are probably more associated with their excellent vin doux natural sweet wines based around there incredible holdings of grenache. Outside of that they make to Rousillon blends based around grenache and grenache gris. This is wonderfully textured with its citrus and grapefruit pithiness balanced by juicy white fruit and a gentle lemon peel lift. It has lovely weight and texture making it a perfect white for winter.
From Mont Redon we have one of the best releases of his Gigondas yet. From 2016 Pierre Fabre has taken sole direction for the estate and is doing everything to make this one of the greatest domaines in the south. If this is an example of where it heading we are happily along for the ride.
Spain is representing with this cracking little 100% garnacha from the Nekeas Valley and 60 year old bush vines. The extreme climate of the region gives this bags of personality without sacrificing any of forward and plush fruits you want from garnacha. Great stuff!
At home we have three cracking 100% grenache all with something a little fun or a little different. The first is the Koerner Canonnau (Sardinian for grenache) and is a modern take and a pleasant surprise. They call this canonnau due to its more savoury edge and slight bite. The Koerner brothers are putting out amazing wines and this is one of the winners in the range.
The Riley Harrison represents the new wave of young Aussie's turning out lithe and elegant grenache. Made in a pure and forward style this the cooler side of Barossa grenache both in style and in form. Hip with a great label but bags of flavour that hasn't been souped up with oak or over-extracted.
And to finish the Yangarra represents the best of the old school but with an understanding of modern tastes. This comes off old vine material and you can see it in the concentration and richness. The concentrated grapes from old vines throw a little more structure in to the mix but the depth of fruit handles it with ease. A touch of oak slinks around in the background and helps frame the concentrated fruit.

August Mixed Dozen 2021 - Going for Gold
With the eye of the world turned to Tokyo for the Olympic Games we are looking forward to watching old rivalries of sport battle it out in the arena. While the traditional powerhouses tend dominate the top spots, Australia always holds its own performing admirably. And so it is in the world of wine. With Italy, Spain and France vying to reign supreme, Australia has burst on to the scene over the last 25 years with its no-nonsense, easy going wines challenging the market and taking on the powers that be.
So, with that in mind not only is this months dozen a great pack of awesome drinking wine, you get to decide who did it best! That's right. This pack has 6 wines from Australia and 6 from France, Spain and Italy. We have picked classic varietals from each country and matched them with their Australian counterparts.
Australia's wine industry has been built on classic French varietals and we have taken those and made them our own putting our own stamp on them while always striving to push the boundaries of style and quality. We have also eagerly and happily adopted a number of varietals from Spain and Italy and made them our own. The likes of tempranillo and sangiovese have thrived in their adopted home and with a changing climate they have slotted beautifully and easily in to the Aussie wine vernacular. Other varietals like Nero d'Avola are growing in popularity while the likes of gamay see planting increase every year.
So whatever or wherever you like to drink from, this is going to be a little bit of research we think you will be happy to do.
To start we are going to look at Chardonnay and what a treat this will be. It's a head-to-head between Burgundy and Victoria with a brand new wine from Nicola Potel versus one of our favourite chardonnay's by Matt Harrop (Curly Flat). Both are generous and soft with lovely crunch and pure fruits offering incredible value.
Gamay is growing in popularity here in Australis with plenty new plantings gong into the ground. We have two crackers with the Aviron Villages sourced from some of Beaujolais most famous towns versus one of favourite Aussie version from Rising in the Yarra Valley. The rising is pure and fresh while the Avrion offers up a little more savoury cut. These are both made by young-guns in their respective homes so will be a worthy challenge!
Back to the classic varietal blend of grenache, shiraz and mouvedre and two recent releases in the market. The Pierre Amadieu makes fantastic wine from both the Rhones north and south with his Roulepierre offering up some of the easiest drinking you will find around. Dandelion vineyards out of the Barossa seems to do no wrong these days. Their latest release is soft, plush and forward with plenty of spice and juicy kick.
No doubt Tempranillo is here to stay. The Jericho team are producing some of the coolest and most delicious wine out of the Mclaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. They are modern and pure wines, wonderfully made. From Spain we have a real treat with a project headed up by Scott Wasley sourcing fruit from Bodegas la Eralta, based in the south-eastern village of Agoncillo. This is a special wine with Scott at the head. It represents the best of the old and the new from Spain and is delicious to boot!
Another varietal we have adopted happily and made our own. This can run the gambit from easy and light to serious and rich both here in Aus as well as its home in Italy. For this months pack we have to fresh, bright and crunchy versions that are the perfect pizza/pasta wines. Mel Chester at Sutton Grange has nailed this latest version and we are not surprised, the lady is terrific winemaker. The Fontaleoni hits all the right notes too and is airy and bright Chianti from the higher hills of Tuscany.
Nero seems to be a variety that we have latched onto and you can see why. It always offer lovely dark polished fruit, sweet spice and a subtle earthiness that is quintessentially Italian. The Ricca Terra is a great example of the varietal that brings all the fruit to the fore without being overly simple or juby while the Vinuva comes along with a little extra earthy richness and sunkissed fruit from it's warm home in southern Italy.$255.00 Regular Price $325.00

Ostertag 'The Other Whites' 6 Pack
*over 20% discount*
You'll receive 2 bottles each of the following:
2019 Ostertag 'Les Jardins' Pinot Blanc $48
The Pinot Blanc Les Jardins is a blend of six small gardens of vines on three different soil types; clay-silt, marl-sandstone, and a touch of granite. It's full-bodied and structured Pinot Blanc, yet bone-dry and mouth-watering. It exudes fresh and fruity aromas of yellow peaches and nectarine. A hint of hazelnut comes out with air. The mouth is thick yet lent tension by zesty minerality. It is an easy-pairing wine with food, though it will be at its best with oysters, terrines, white meat or hard-crust cheese. ARTHUR OSTERTAG
2019 Ostertag 'Les Jardins' Pinot Gris $66
The Pinot Gris Les Jardins is a blend of four small gardens of vines from three different soils; clayey sandstone, loess and schist. The blend is completed by several single-vineyard plots. The result is a fresh and intense Pinot Gris, with a very refined floral and slightly smoky nose, and ripe yellow fruits, citrus fruits and honey. In the mouth the complexity of the soils and the barrel vinification is felt through a combination of full body and vibrant, refreshing personality with an intense mineral structure… it will suit chicken salads, grilled fish and aged cheese but is also a perfect apéritif wine. It has good aging potential (around seven years) but is still best enjoyed in the blossoming character of its youth. ARTHUR OSTERTAG
2019 Ostertag Sylvaner Vieilles Vignes $48
The Sylvaner vines are 30 to 80 years of age, half of the plots are located in single-vineyard sites. It is made from 10 small plots in total with five different soil types; sandstone; clay; marl; granite; and alluvium. They have a deeply established root system which brings a surprisingly rich mineral structure for this variety.
This vintage marks a renewal of the label. The Sylvaner Vieilles Vignes is the totem wine of the Ostertag estate and we take great pleasure in living with this grape variety that is so demanding in the vineyard as well as in the cellar. It is an unloved grape variety that has been subjected to years of intensive production despite the fact that in reality it has all the makings of a great white wine. A small wine will become great! Though it can be kept for several years, it is in the carefree freshness of its first years that it gives the most pleasure. ARTHUR OSTERTAG$255.00 Regular Price $324.00

Chidaine Chenin 4 Pack 2019
Francois and Manuela Chidaine are masters of Chenin Blanc. Born in Montlouis-sur-Loire, Francois’ synergy with the local land shines through in his wines. While each cuvee is made from Chenin, their personalities are unique; from the salty-piquant and minerally tense to the ‘gently dry’ and power-laden Clos Habert. They dance effortlessly across the palate.
The diversity of Chenin Blanc is in play here too. Most of the wines are dry, with just a few off-dry’s in the mix. To make the wines, Chidaine passes through the vineyards over different days or weeks to get a mix of flavours while pushing the ripeness to avoid green and underripe tones. There’s a lovely sense of ripeness through the wines paired with minerality and a saline piquancy.

This is not the first time the Heretieres Comte Lafon Milly Larmartine has made it into the pack and it always represents some of the best value magnums around town. Rich but mineral driven with a wonderful lightness at its heart but with plenty of petrol in the tank. What else would you expect from one of the premiere white Burgundy producers in France.
What pack for summer would be complete without a rose? The Riotor is a year-in, year-out favourite here and the 2018 is another awesome bottling. Plenty of peachy and pear fruit overlayed with orange peel freshness and a minerally twang. Delicious stuff and we think you will be back for more.
The Bernard Metrat Beaujolais is sourced from 60-90 year old vines in some of the regions best pink-granite and clay soil vineyards. It has perfume and spice with dark minerally element running through the pure red and black fruits. Top-notch stuff.
This is 50/50 grenache and syrah and full of up-front juicy fruit and earthy spice. This is the type of wine you crack and wonder if your glass has a hole in it that is draining out the wine faster then you could be drinking. Well, no. It's just that good and that easy to drink. Perfect for a group of friends and a BBQ.
To book end this brilliant pack we are finishing with one of Australia great shiraz and grenache producers Yangarra. This is a blend of several of the estate blocks and see's just a kiss of new oak. Its vibrant and fresh but with lovely liqueured black and red fruits and peppercorn spice.

Terre Nere Etna 6 PackEtna's revitalisation since the 90s has given us a gamut of original whites, rosatos and reds. The everchanging volcanic soils are layers of lava eruptions, molten rock that has been spewed from the gurgling mouth of Etna. These different layers result in a mix of deep dark soils of minerals and rocks that imbue different characteristics into the wines.
Today we're offering their Etna DOC wines - Bianco, Rosato and Rosso. A mix of organic bush vines and terraced vines from the cooler north face of Etna, these are tightly coiled and vibrant wines with a thread of minerality.
The Bianco is made mostly from the carricante grape, it's waxy and minerally. Often likened to Chablis is can age very well too. Nerello Mascalese is the leading red in Etna, the backbone of the Etna Rosso and Rosato wines. It provides structure and is complemented by Nerello Cappuccio which adds colour, but little tannin. Flavours and textures of ripe cherries with a smoky and rocky outlook abound here. The Rosato (rose) is delicate and lithely and wonderfully savoury. These local grapes are clever conduits of the volcanic soils in both flavour and texture.

If we can't be there in person then we can at least be there in spirit!
This year we are starting in the Loire Valley with a quick stop in Burgundy before heading off to tackle the long climb and final ascent to the Val Claret. After that we make our way south to the warm reaches of the Rhone valley where we continue west into the Midi and through some of France most rustic and picturesque country. And lastly, on to Bordeaux!
Stage 7, Vierzon to Le Creusot - 248k
Domaine de Bellene St Romain Blanc 2019, Burgundy
A brand-new climb, never use by the TDF and the longest stage of all the stages. A good white Burgundy to celebrate seems like the way to go.
Stage 6, Tours to Chateaxroux - 144k
Caves de Pouilly Les Tuileries Sur Loire Rouge 2018, Coteaux du Giennois
Flat and suited to sprinters weaving through the vineyards of the Loire - how appropriate indeed!
Stage 10, Albertville to Valence - 191k
Berthollier Roussette de Savoie Altesse 2019, Savoie
The doorway to the Alps and at the footstep of the Savoie resorts. Kick back and relax in the beautiful Albertville watching the riders fly by while you sip your crispy glass of white.
Stage 11, Sorgues to Malaucene - 199k
Charvin Cotes du Rhone Le Poutet 2019
Two ascents of Mont Ventoux! Yikes! First the easy way then the steep. One for the climbers. Well, when in Rome, or in this case Rhone, then drink one of the tastiest Rhones around - wa la!
Stage 17, Muret to Saint-Lary-Soulan Col du Portet - 178k
Cosse Maisonneuve Cahors La Fage 2016, Cahor
A tough day that finishes with 3 obstacles in a row - the Col du Peyresourder, the Col de Val Louron-Azet and last the Col du Portet. Rustic and striking just like this beautiful Cahor.
Stage 20, Libourne to Saint Emilion - 31k
Chateaux Montravel Rouge, Montravel
Another rip through the vineyards with individual time trials. One of the funnest and fastest of the Tour. What do you drink? Merlot, 100%, all the way - and you haven't had merlot like this! Delic!

The Prince Non Alcoholic Negroni PackWe are stoked to introduce two relative newcomers to the non-alcoholic drink's scene. Both have been innovators in their fields and their products have caused a huge splash in the scene.
Lyre's offer the full suite of bar staples to make your own classic favourites as a no-alcohol options simply by selecting from the many Lyre's variants in their extensive range. They craft their spirits to taste just like the classics they pay homage to and source the finest all-natural essences, extracts and distillates from the four corners of the globe using cutting edge food science to craft the range.
Just down the road the crew at Brunswick Aces have been just as busy with their incredible selection of sapir's or non-alcoholic gins.
The processes used to make sapiir is a more traditional approach to and the methods used are centuries old, originating in the early distillation work developed across Europe and the Middle East around the 17th Century.
Books such as "the art of distillation" by John French, published in London in 1651, clearly outline many of the processes still used today to extract the delicate aromatic elements of botanicals used to give sapiir its unique flavour profiles.
Both the Gins and Sapir's are lovingly hand-crafted at their distillery and tasting room in Brunswick with each botanicals individually extracted and then finally blended to form the highest quality product. The range consists of the Hearts and Spades currently but watch out for more as these local heroes continue to grow.
It was 1919, and Count Camillo Negroni decided his favourite cocktail the Americano needed a little something extra. He swapped out the soda water for gin and thus the Negroni was born. This classic aperitif may look like a sweet, Italian orange treat, but like a gate-crashing pack of weasels - it’s crafty, a little bitter and full of surprises.
